Everybody's gob-smacked these days.

What happened to 'surprised', 'astonished', 'shocked'?

Perhaps it doesn't really matter. 

Language is a dynamic, living thing so changes are part of it.

I sometimes wonder though whether it is just laziness: to latch on to some 'media inspired' word or phrase and use it on every possible occasion.

But I really cannot be arsed.
